Did you see that?
I hate the words, “Did you see that?” when I am not looking in the direction that everyone else is when something great goes down! All my life I have hated missing out on things. I remember being in elementary school and my parents having to limit me on how many things I could do on the weekend, because I wanted to do it all! In college I was so pumped to be able to do what I wanted, when I wanted and how often I wanted. But, it was only a matter of months until I was sick as a dog and sleep deprived from trying to do it all. Let’s just say, life caused me to grow up quickly in this area.
That character trait of not wanting to “miss it” has stayed with me all of my life. It’s funny how God uses the personality He has gifted you with for His purposes. To this day, God is always teaching me what, who and where to put my energy and time to. My desire to not want to miss out on anything has been refined and focused from childhood to adult years. Now, as a 34-year-old woman, I don’t want to miss out on anything God is doing. It honestly drives me to walk through painful things, uncomfortable things, hard things, scary things and uncertain things that eventually have all led to amazing things. I am amazed at how putting my roots down deep and sinking my spiritual heels into where God has me, has actually been the gateway to “seeing” and “experiencing” my greatest moments in God.
So what am I trying to say? Ladies, don’t miss what God is doing. So many times we spend our days and dreams looking out to what we want to see, but God is doing it right now, right here and right in front of you. When we sit on the sidelines in the Kingdom of God or when we are always looking outward, that is when we miss it. Look now, look around you and see what God is doing. Distraction is one of the most powerful tools I see the enemy use on the people of God. Those distractions can even come in “godly” clothing. We are a part of something greater than ourselves. God is gifting us the privilege of having a front row seat to His church in action.
Last Sunday we saw 27 people receive Christ. Two weeks ago we had 54 women shoved in a house for Flourish. We are having experiences so full of people that the worship team has had to sit in a storage room, because we are out of chairs! I don’t have to worry about missing it, because I am in it and so are you! Don’t look behind you or in front of you. Look at where God has you. The scripture I leave with you today is Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
